When deciding upon a layout for your business card it is best to make a list of the key information that you will need to have on your card.  While some may keep their cards minimal by including only a name and phone number, others may find it necessary to include also their website, email, address, and a business slogan.  Decide what is most pertinent to your business and then proceed from there.  For example, if you are a hair stylist you may find that it is most helpful to your clients to also include the address of your salon.  You may even want to do a backside printing to include scheduling information for their next appointment.  The more convenience your business card provides for your client, the more effective and useful it will be for them, which will in turn bring that business back to you again and again.  That is the goal of a good business card.  You want it to be informative enough that the recipient of the card refers to it often in order to reestablish contact with you.  In the same regard, you don't want for your business card to be overcrowded with information.  A business card provides limited space and if you try to put too much text on it, people will find it hard to navigate.  Make sure that your layout is intuitive and able to provide the facts without becoming too wordy in order to create the best business cards.

Color

Depending upon the line of work you are in, the use of color on your best business card is going to be subjective.  For example, it may be in poor taste for a legal representative to have a business card with colors beyond black and white.  In the same line of though, a black and white color scheme may be too subdued for an owner of a children's toy store.  Find the balance of the right colors for your vocation.  Color allows your business card to stand out among the collection of business cards your connection may have in their possession.  Color also provides a form of memory association with your business card.  If your business card has a bright yellow background, that will be a distinguishing factor to anyone receiving it and they will remember how to find your contact information quickly.  Think of using color as a way to have the best business card for quick recollection.
