Ever since I was a teenager, I struggled with monthly acne breakouts. I would use commercial products available in supermarkets and department stores, but none of them curbed the pimples.
As I entered my late twenties, all natural, locally-made products became more popular. These facial cleansers, moisturizers, and shampoos promised the same or even better results through ingredients extracted from plants. After giving these safer products a chance, I eventually did, and continue to enjoy smoother skin and minimal acne breakouts.
What exactly makes the difference between chemical, synthetic made products and all-natural ones? Although big companies are able to develop compounds that address problems like acne and dark skin, some of these components can harm you in the long-run. Nomi’s Naturals is one company that set out to provide its community such safe and effective skin and hair care products.
Nomi’s Naturals specializes in handcrafted soaps, salt scrubs, body butters, bath salts, and sugar scrubs made from harmless, cruelty-free, and all-natural ingredients. Each beauty item uses ingredients from suppliers that encourage greener living and sustainable life choices.
Nomi’s Natural Alternatives
Michelle Arline is the entrepreneur behind this noteworthy business. She came up with Nomi’s Naturals after her struggle with hair loss, dry flaky skin, and acne breakouts from her teenage years up until adulthood. Well-known commercial products did nothing to clear her breakouts or moisturize her skin. Even after going to the salon every two weeks for years, she still suffered from hair loss.
Michelle realized she needed a new approach to her skin and hair care.
“From that point on, I began looking to more holistic ways of taking care of my skin and hair. I began researching on butters, oils, and other products that were good for the entire body.”
From there, she was able to make her own soaps, scrubs, hair, and butters that effectively improved and addressed different conditions.
“We use some of the finest butters and oils, which help to promote healthy skin and hair,” she describes. Her product line’s specialty is moisturizing since dry skin is one of Michelle’s biggest pet peeves. A lot of us are vulnerable to dry skin since we use our hands all day. Thus, one of her goals is to create a product that is able to seal in moisture without making you feel as if the butter or cream is still on your skin.
Some of Michelle’s moisturizing products include Avocado Butter Creme, Whipped Shea Butter, and body oils such as the Barbershop Fresh and Tuxedo. Unlike regular lotions, body butters draw their moisturizing properties from the namesake’s ingredient. These oil-based or plant-based products are thicker than lotions and are more effective in treating dry skin. Body oils, on the other hand, last longer on the skin and stop moisture from evaporating.
None of Nomi’s Naturals products contain harmful cancer-linked chemicals that can irritate the skin.
“We also use essential oils that are extracted from plants and contain properties that help improve the skin’s appearance, reduce the signs of aging, inflammation, and acne,” she says.
Michelle produces a wide range of beauty products, with the Rosemary & Peppermint Soap standing out as the most popular one. The soap was created to cleanse the skin of acne breakouts and help in reducing inflammation. It also contains three essential oils with anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial properties. Customers love this soap for its acne-reducing properties. They also love the Noah’s Ark, Green Tea and Willow, and Heaven Scent soaps that all provide fresh and irresistible scents.
Nomi’s Naturals doesn’t just cater to women. Their “Just For Men” line was created so as not to exclude them from the benefits of hair and skin care. In fact, Michelle shared that “more and more men are also interested in healthy living and skin.”
At the same time, many of the female clients also buy items for their male partners. Some of their male-targeted soaps include the Noah’s Ark Body Bar and Barbershop Fresh II Body Bar. They also sell a Five O’Clock Shadow Body Oil for men, while the Irresistible Whipped Body Butter carries a fragrance men wouldn’t mind wearing.
Maintaining a Small and Impactful Business
“Running a small business takes a lot of time, patience, practice, and commitment. One of the biggest challenges I have faced is juggling a full-time job with running a small business. There are only so many hours in the day and creating products, packaging and promoting them, and attending them can take up a lot of energy.”Running a small business takes a lot of time, patience, practice, and commitment. To overcome these difficulties, Michelle prays and returns to the reason she started the business in the first place. That main motivation would be providing her own son the opportunity to help build and run a family-owned business.
Michelle also continues to expand and develop her current line of natural products. Her customers can look forward to both new and improved items that focus on promoting healthy, moisture-rich skin, and hair products for both men and women. Nomi’s Naturals will also be including products friendly and safe for children and babies in the near future.
Reaching Out to Customers
While reliable and safe products assure a wider customer reach, it also helps to inform your customer more with every purchase. Michelle ordered PrintRunner’s postcards and included them with all products shipped to customers. She also takes them to each and every one of her events.
“The quality of the postcards were better than I could have expected and the turnaround time was also just as good,” she elaborates. The quality of the postcards were better than I could have expected. Click To Tweet
Nomi’s Naturals postcards highlight the positive and long-term effects of each product. The front side showcases the product range and where customers can get more information, while the back lists down the specific hair and skin care items one can order in the future.
