Brochure Marketing Tips

For effective brochures, here are some tips that you need to know before printing your brochures.

  • Brochure folds are the most distinctive features of brochures. Take full advantage of these folds by incorporating them into your design.
  • Limit the use of font types. Usually, two or three different fonts are enough—one for the title, one for the headers, and one for the body.
  • Know your paper stock and coating. Consider using thicker paper for added durability. Use matte and glossy coating for added pizzazz.
  • Always check for spelling and grammar errors in your content. Use simple statements to get your point across.
  • Use high resolution photos. Never cut corners when designing your brochures. That first impression is important.

Folds

Tri-Fold

Tri-Fold

The most popular option, this classic fold has three panels on each side. The front panels fold in toward each other, and lay one on top of the other. Also called a letter fold.

Half-Fold

Half-Fold

A simple fold in half like a book. This folding option creates two panels on each side.

Z-Fold

Z-Fold

This option creates three panels on each side, with alternating folds.

Gate Fold

Gate Fold

A presentation-style fold, this brochure option creates two symmetrical panel doors that open to reveal a three-panel interior.

French Fold

French Fold

This fold is created by folding in half and then in half again perpendicular to the first. When opened, it creates a large flat flyer separated into 4 panels on each of 2 sides.

Accordion Fold

Accordion Fold

This fold consists of several parallel folds, alternating forward and backward. It resembles a Z-fold, but with 4 panels.

Double-Parallel Fold

Double-Parallel Fold

With this custom brochure fold the paper is folded in half toward one side, and then folded in half again in the same direction, parallel to the first fold.

Roll Fold

Roll Fold

This is where the folding starts at one end and rolls inward into itself.

Double Gate Fold

Double Gate Fold

In double gate folds there are three parallel folds. The left and right edges of the paper fold and meet in the middle, along a center fold, and are then folded again toward the center.

Paper

70 lb. Uncoated Paper

This is our thinnest brochure paper, most similar to typical copy paper, but higher quality, and with slightly more weight. It makes for easy folding and is the best choice for writing on with a ball point pen.

80 lb. Glossy Paper

Print brochures on this for a thin paper with a smooth finish.

100 lb. Glossy Paper

Full-bodied paper perfect for folding, coated with a gloss finish for brochures printed with more durability.

100 lb. Matte Paper

Same thickness as 100 lb. glossy paper but with a matte/dull finish for an understated and softer look and feel. Ballpoint pens with oil-based ink and permanent ink markers work best for writing on this paper.

10 pt. Glossy Cardstock

This is a lightweight cardstock that is durable and perfect for folding. It also has a glossy finish for vibrant color printing and better protection. Excellent for door hangers, brochures, calendar covers, etc.

10 pt. Matte Cardstock

Same thickness as 10 pt. glossy cardstock but with a matte/dull finish. Ideal choice when you want heftier brochures. Ballpoint pens with oil-based ink and permanent ink markers work best for writing on this paper.
